July in the Garden

Sweet smelling honeysuckle.

Beautiful Clematis. This has been growing on one side of a pergola, with a wisteria on the other. Sadly, this was not a fair fight, and the weight of the wisteria has pulled the pergola over, and we've had to remove it. We'll see if we can move the clematis in the autumn.

Fox and cubs.

Pinks.

Penstemon.

Filipendula has self-seeded all over the garden. I've taken out this clump and am replanning this border.

Sea holly

The Great Yorkshire Show 2017

We love going to a show. From the smallest village show, to the greatest of them all  The Great Yorkshire Show in Harrogate. The Gentleman Farmer and I have been several times, and always find something new to look at. We aim to arrive soon after the gates open, and leave as late as we can, but TGYS always leaves us wanting more. This year, we took MasterW with us. Sadly, we picked the only wet day of the week, but there was plenty to see.

We started off with a bit of stock-picking. I had my eye on this saddleback from the start, and she won best of breed.

Then on to the sheep. We watched this Ryeland being trimmed and primped.

This one's a Teeswater, which is our local sheep. You may have met our neighbours' tup, Rufus; he's a Teeswater.
